Training a Bulldog can often feel like it's 2 steps forward and 1 step backwards. The background of your dogs breeding will play an enormous part in how your dog behaves as an adult so it's even more important to make sure you get your puppy from a good responsible breeder:
Kennel Club Registered as an Approved Breeder
Breeding standard colours
Raising pups in an environment that exposes them to everyday things
Preferably a show breeder
Avoid:
Breeders that used their own dogs or a friends dog (unless they are a very well established and well respected breeding kennel)
Breeders trying to create specific colours outside of those considered standard
Breeders that have never shown a dog or have no intention of showing a dog
Training Basics
Teaching a dog how you want him to behave should simply be about teaching him what is "normal". You don't necessarily have to shout, tug or constantly tell your dog off to acheive this. In many cases how you behave around your dog is key as he will almost always follow your lead.
If you need to use corrective behaviour, keep the atmophere calm and be persistent - it's not always a quick fix.
